What is Trezor.io/Start®®?
Trezor.io/Start®® is the official web portal to guide you through setting up your Trezor hardware wallet. It provides instructions for initializing your device, creating secure accounts, and connecting safely to the Trezor Suite for managing cryptocurrencies.
Before You Begin
Before using Trezor.io/Start®®, make sure you have:
- A compatible Trezor device (Trezor Model T or One).
- A computer with a supported web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave recommended).
- A stable internet connection to access Trezor.io/Start®®.
- Your recovery seed storage method ready — offline and secure (never on a computer or online).
Security Tip: Only use the official Trezor website (trezor.io/start
) to begin setup. Avoid entering your recovery phrase on any device other than your Trezor.
Step 1: Connect Your Trezor Device
Plug your Trezor device into your computer using the provided USB cable. For Trezor Model T, a USB-C port is used; for Trezor One, a micro-USB port is required. Unlock the device and follow on-screen prompts.
Step 2: Access Trezor.io/Start®®
Open a supported web browser and visit trezor.io/start. This page will detect your device and guide you through the setup process, including initializing your wallet, firmware updates, and connecting to Trezor Suite.
Step 3: Initialize Your Device
Follow these steps on your Trezor device:
- Select “Create new wallet” or “Recover wallet” if you have an existing recovery phrase.
- Set a secure PIN directly on your device. Never type it on your computer.
- Write down your recovery seed on the provided card or secure storage device. This seed is your backup to restore funds if the Trezor is lost or damaged.
Remember: Never enter the recovery seed into any online form or digital device.
Step 4: Install Trezor Suite
After initialization, Trezor.io/Start®® will guide you to download Trezor Suite, the desktop application for managing your crypto. Ledger Live equivalent for Trezor, Trezor Suite allows you to send/receive crypto, view your portfolio, and access third-party integrations securely.

Once Trezor Suite is connected to your device:
- Click “Add account” and select the cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
- Verify the account addresses on the Trezor device itself.
- Repeat for each coin or token family you wish to manage.
Step 6: Sending and Receiving Crypto
To receive funds, select the account in Trezor Suite, click “Receive,” and verify the address on your device. To send funds, click “Send,” enter the recipient address and amount, then confirm on your device. Always double-check addresses on your hardware wallet screen.

- Never disclose your 24-word recovery seed to anyone.
- Regularly update Trezor firmware via Trezor Suite when prompted.
- Store recovery seed offline and consider metal backups for durability.

If your Trezor is not detected:
- Check the USB cable and try a different port.
